About the Artist
Josef began studying the classical piano at the age of 7 and writing music at the age of 10. He has a strong passion for Romantic Era music with some of his favourite composers including Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Brahms. Throughout his childhood and adolescence he performed and competed at local festivals and in 2008 was provincially ranked in the top 8 of the province of Ontario for Royal Conservatory Grade 8 Piano. For his post-secondary education Josef studied Composition and Classical Piano at Concordia University in Montreal. This gave him the opportunity to write music for a variety of performers ranging from solo cello to full orchestral works performed by the Orchestre Symphonique de L’isle at the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall. At his new home Sutton’s Haven Inn Josef is working on a brand new repertoire and will be performing every Thursday night. Keep an eye on our blog to see when new pieces will be performed. If you would like to listen to some of Josef’s own compositions, please feel free to visit his website at www.jbaumgartl.com
